I'm interested in the answer to this question. Not just for myself but for everyone.
And why??
Well because our "ticking" seems to represent motivation. Motivation to start something, finish something, move something from where it's at now to where it's going to be when it's finished. If that's possible.
What starts the ticking? Or keeps the ticking ticking? Or stops the ticking?
As a coach, my experience with young male soccer players is that they'll do almost anything that I ask if I use the language of soccer to start the ticking. Because they want to please me? Hmmm, maybe. Or they think it might make them a better player? Maybe. Or they've just somehow learned to blindly follow authority? Probably not. Because they do the things I ask willfully & with purpose. At least the ones that seem to want more for themselves. That's where the motivation comes in.
Raise your standards, push out of your comfort zone, let the ticking commence :) and carry you forward.
I like the title :) It's a thought provoking read. What's the "invisible" force that is the source of the tick??
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me that you connect to your audience through the language of soccer...but it doesn't stop there. Once you have their attention they are then inspired to action through your authenticity and presence. Or "ticked" into action, as it were ;-)
